Kraft Heinz merger
« on: February 27, 2016, 09:20:16 PM »
Last week I received notification that there was a tax document  on the Wells Fargo website pertaining to Kraft Foods.

It was a 1099B regarding teh $16.50 per share "dividend" that we received.

I never entered the Merger into my software yet but with tax time here, I figure I have to.

In IAM, are you supposed to indicate the Merger first in the software and then this "dividend".

Will it become clearer as I follow the instructions for the merger in the manual?

Thanks for any help.

Theresa:

You can enter this under the IAM transactions menu | global transactions | merger function.  Enter the $16.50 received per share held and IAM will allocate this as necessary against cost basis or capital gain distributions.  It will not be treated as investment income.

Hope this helps,

Matt
